LAGERS Cup standings after Round 1

Round 1 Recap: Congrats Craig M

Craig M wins Round 1 of 2026 LAGERS Cup

Craig’s California Common won the first round of this year’s Cup. He’s taken an early lead in the competition with 10 points. Nathan came in second (8 points), and Ron K followed in third (6 points). All other entrants earned 4 points for participating.

Round 2 Preview: Dark English Mild

If you are planning to enter your Mild at the next meeting, please bring at least 64oz, and label your container with your name. Turn your beer into Jacob right when you arrive.

If you are planning to vote, please bring $5. (Having exact change helps the process run smoothly!)

Round 3: German Pilsners on Aug 17

Make a plan to brew this beer with enough time to lager.

Special thanks to Christopher for organizing an excellent session on German Pils at our April meeting — and to Evan and Alex for brewing examples of the style. Thanks as well to Atrium for sharing their take on the German Pils.

We hope everyone who plans to submit (or brew a German Pils in the future) has a better understanding of which hops to select based on the presentation and tasting.

As a reminder, the KY State Fair is also in August. We hope to see a lot of Pilsner submitted to our club’s signature BJCP-sanctioned competition.

Round 4: Saison on Nov 16

We will crown our third champ in November. As shared at the top of this post, the competition is still wide open with three rounds to go!
