LAGERS: October Newsletter (YH Updates + more)

Hey LAGERS!

Welcome to your October newsletter!  This one will be pretty short, just a few house cleaning items and reminders.

Yappy Hour Brewers:

Yappy Hour is November 12th!  Even if you aren’t brewing a beer this year, please come out and support this awesome event!  And we are always looking for volunteers to help set up and tear down.

Here is the remaining timeline for those brewing beer for Yappy Hour.  Leah has already said we can come by whenever the brewery is open, so the drop-off dates and the rest are flexible.  Just make sure you have your beer in a keg with enough time to carb and condition.  Personally, the 6th is probably the latest I’d feel safe having my beer kegged.

Per Leah, we can take our wort up to ABW any time the taproom is open. If you need yeast, then you’ll first need to touch base with Leah or Matt to make sure they are there. Otherwise, take your wort up to the office, pitch your yeast and leave your fermenters near the AC unit in the office, away from the sunlight.
Once your beer is ready, get it kegged, and then go ahead and put it in the YELLOW cooler. Matt’s phone number is 502-418-3818 (Thanks to Christopher for this info).

October Meeting

Our October meeting will be at Akasha Brewing on 10/17 at 7 pm. We will resume voting on the best homebrew at each meeting, and this month we’ll be giving away an awesome LAGERS glass to the person with the most votes.  As of now, we don’t have anyone lined up to speak, so if you’d like to give a talk, please reach out to me at lagersclub@gmail.com.

Officer Changes

As most of you know already, Greg has stepped down as President of LAGERS after serving the past four years.  I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we’re grateful for all he has done during that time. Greg worked very hard and dedicated a lot of his time over the years to make the group what it is today.  It hasn’t been an easy job, especially during the past couple years, as we navigated through COVID. Please take some time to thank Greg and buy him a beer or two when you see him!

Given Greg’s departure, I (Nathan Muleski) have offered to take over as President, coming from the position of Secretary.  I haven’t been with the club nearly as long as most of you, but my heart is in it and I’m ready to make LAGERS the best club it can be.  COVID was tough on us, and my goal is to get us back to our pre-pandemic level of activity. I’m already working on some exciting things that I can’t wait to share with each of you.  If you have any ideas on the direction of the club, our monthly talks, events, or anything else, please feel free to email me at lagersclub@gmail.com

We are extremely lucky that both Brandon (Vice President) and Sarah (Treasurer) will be staying on for another year!
