June Newsletter
Lots to talk about this month, let’s get into it…
June Meeting Recap
We had a great turnout at our meeting last week. We had our first Feedback Corner, which paired BJCP judges with homebrewers to get 1 on 1 feedback about their beer. Everyone involved seemed to find it beneficial, so we hope to continue this every month, permitting we have enough judges. I gave a short talk on Cold IPA vs IPL and we sampled some commercial examples. Sean spoke about State Fair (go check out the last post on the website for more info!).
As for our best on the table, Alex Rezmerski took it this month with 5 votes for his Czech Dark Lager! Congrats to Alex! The prize this month was a Inkbird WiFI temp controller, but since Alex is a badass and just won an Inkbird so he’s letting it ride for next month’s meeting.
July Meeting
Our July meeting will be on July 17th, at 6:30pm. We’ll have Ameila Pillow, owner and brewer at Shipping Port, in to talk about foraging ingredients for brewing. Ameila has a TON of experience brewing, so plan on coming out and learning something! That talk will begin around 7.
Yappy Hour 2023!
This year’s Yappy Hour will be September 30th. Last year we raised over $3k and this year I’d love to break $4k! The only way we can do that is if even more people brew a beer! Equally important is bringing loads of friends and family to the event.
I am still finalizing the timeline for the event, but start thinking of recipes. You likely have about a month before recipes need to be in.
NHC Winners
Huge congratulations to our own Alex Rezmerski and Evan Brill on taking home medals at this year’s National Homebrew Competition!
Alex took home the GOLD in Category 4 – Pale Malty European Beeer with his Festbier. This is the first gold won by a LAGERS member at NHC.
Evan took home Bronze in Category 1 – Pale American Beer with his Standard American Lager.
