BJCP Training Class
Important info (TLDR):

- Where: TBD
- When: As soon as we get enough interested – classes weekly

LAGERS had an enormously successful BJCP training course in 2024. We are now looking to repeat this again as soon as we have enough interest. This course will last 10-14 weeks, meeting once a week. It will cover everything you need to know to take the BJCP Beer Judging Exam (tasting exam). The course will be administered by Craig Gardone, with help from many other BJCP judges from the area (and maybe some special guest teachers!).
The course will be $150, all of which will go towards purchasing materials for the class. We intend to cover as many of the styles as we can from the BJCP Style Guidelines. Any money left over will be refunded at the end of the class.
Meeting time and place will be decided once we get a critical mass of students
If you are interested or have any questions, please email lagersclub@gmail.com with the subject line “BJCP Class 2026”. Even if you are just considering it, please email so we can get an idea of how many folks are interested and make the necessary plans.
The only requirement for taking the Beer Judging Exam is that you have already passed the BJCP Beer Judge Entrance On-Line Examination. The entrance exam is a web-based entrance exam, which is pass/fail with multiple choice, true-false and multiple answer questions. This entrance exam must be passed to enable a prospective judge to register for the tasting exam. Good news is that you can wait to take this exam until about a month before the actual tasting exam to build your confidence and learn some testing hacks. You can find more information about it here. The exam costs $10, or you can buy a three pack for $20 (highly recommended).
