We are having our fourth annual Great Pumpkin Brew-Off. The spirit of the competition is to brew beers made in the Fall, Harvest (food crops, not hops), Halloween and Thanksgiving theme. Here are the rules: Entry Rules Entries must be brewed with a minimum of one of the following carbohydrate sources: Pumpkin Squash Gourd Any fall harvest crops within the above family (e.g., zucchini) Entries must be brewed using a minimum of one of the following spices: Allspice Cinnamon Clove Ginger Nutmeg (or mace) No other spices should be used Christmas-style spicing and beers should be avoided. (Louisville, KY) – The Yappy Hour Beer Festival brought out a crowd to taste all the great beers created by members of the Lagers Homebrew Club at Apocalypse Brew Works. This annual event not only raises money for the Kentucky Humane Society, but gives everyone an opportunity to taste some far-out flavors in a range of beers. With names like Kitty Chaser, Pink Belly, Hazy Dog Daze and Barknado, lucky dog owners and beer lovers enjoyed hibiscus, lots of hops, chocolate, cherries, peanut butter and all kinds of traditional flavors. The dogs (and a few cats) are out for the annual Yappy Hour at Apocalypse Brew Works. L.A.G.E.R.S. Homebrew Club members created 21 beers to satisfy every tastebud in town. With 21 beers from Chocolate Porters to German Wheats to Saisons, IPA’s, Brown, Pale and Gose, there is something to sooth the beast.
