We are having our 5th annual Tailspin Brew-Off. The spirit of the competition is to brew some variation on the Winter Warmer theme. This years winning beer will be brewed as the signature beer for the 6th Anniversary Tailspin Festival Ale . Here are the rules:
Entry Rules
Entries must be brewed to a gravity limit of 1.090
Entries may not be brewed using:
Syrups (Belgian, treacle, molasses, honey, maple syrup, etc.)
Fruit (fresh, canned or flavoring)
Wood (barrel, chips or spirals)
Anything funky or farmhousy (Brett, Lacto, Pedio, etc.)
Entries may be brewed using:
Dry hops
Chocolate
Spices
Herbs
Plain sugar (white, table)
Unique ingredients that do not conflict with above
Any type of beer may be submitted and does not have to conform to a BJCP style
Beers from the cellar, well-aged and conditioned may be entered, but judges will be taking into consideration if an entry can be brewed and made ready in the time allotted.

Must submit two bottles per entry

Judging Format This is a “best beer on the table” style competition. Judges will simply choose their favorite winter warmer style beer out of all the entries. While this is not a BJCP competition, basic judging principles from the BJCP may carry over. Judges will likely evaluate beers based on fermentation character, cleanliness, etc., but they will not be judged to a particular style. Final decisions will be made by the organizers of the Tailspin Ale Festival.
Due Date Entries are will be judged on Thursday, December 13th at Apocalypse. Entries must be received between December 10th and December 12th.
Awards The winner will brew their beer with brewmaster Leah Dienes to be served as the signature beer for the 2018 Tailspin Ale Festival. Each entrant who registers and submits a beer will receive one general admission ticket to Tailspin. The placed winners will receive a VIP Ticket and special recognition at the event. One ticket per entrant, not entry.
