    Hey LAGERS! It’s that time of year again. Time to submit what you want to brew for Yappy Hour! For those who are new to the Club, Yappy Hour is our annual charity event with Apocalypse Brew Works to raise money for the Kentucky Humane Society. It is also our big opportunity to highlight homebrewing and the LAGERS club. Essentially, the idea is that we host a brew-in with ABW in August (August 19th this year) where Club members can brew any recipe they want on premise.     Akasha Brew-in and Competition

    Akasha is hosting us for a brew-in and competition on March 11th, from 8am to 3pm.  The theme this year is CEREAL, so all entries must be brewed with a cereal adjunct – oats, corn or rice.  It can be used as flakes or in a cereal mash.  The competition is open to all base styles, and you must be a LAGERS member to participate.  We will also serve as a Club social.  Jason Rosenberger will be bringing the smoked BBQ, and we will have the jockey boxes flowing.     Great Pumpkin Brew-Off

    We are having our fourth annual Great Pumpkin Brew-Off. The spirit of the competition is to brew beers made in the Fall, Harvest (food crops, not hops), Halloween and Thanksgiving theme. Here are the rules: Entry Rules Entries must be brewed with a minimum of one of the following carbohydrate sources: Pumpkin Squash Gourd Any fall harvest crops within the above family (e.g., zucchini) Entries must be brewed using a minimum of one of the following spices: Allspice Cinnamon Clove Ginger Nutmeg (or mace) No other spices should be used Christmas-style spicing and beers should be avoided.
